The following list was taken from the Directory of Historical 
Organizations in the United States and Canada, fifteenth edition, 
published by the American Association for State and Local
History and AltraMira Press. Offers were not sent to 'Outdoor 
Museums,' 'House Museums' dedicated to single individuals or
'period authenticity,' societies that did not maintain collections, 
library achives that did not collect 'objects,' or museums with 
collections that seemed completely inappropriate for the models. 
An attempt was also made to restrict offers to only one 
organization per individual town.
