Kansas Is Flatter Than a Pancake Exhibit
Coronado Museum,
Liberal, Kansas
The Seward County Historical Society and Coronado Museum, Liberal, has
a temporary exhibit open for viewing in August.
Kansas Is Flatter Than a Pancake is the name of the exhibit,
featuring a topological model of Kansas. The model was created and
donated to the museum by Allan McCollum, an artist from New York. This
model was used in connection with an exhibition at a Kansas City gallery
called Grandarts.
While driving across the American Midwest, it is common to hear
travelers remark, This state is as flat as a pancake. This obvious
question how flat is a pancake spurned three college students analytical
interest, and they immediately set out to find the flatness of both a
pancake and one particular state: Kansas.
