Allan McCollum -
I am Darrell L. Butterfield, President of the Derby Historical
Society and Museum, Derby, Kansas. I just today received your
letter offering the topographical model of the state of Kansas.
I would certainly like to accept your offer for the Derby
Historical Society if it is not too late. The museum changed
P. O. Box #'s 3 or 4 years ago, and I received your letter the
round about way from the current owner of that box number.
I am returning your reply form by mail, but thought maybe it
would be a bit faster to email you since it is so late.

How heavy is this? Was it difficult to make?
I've thought of getting a topographic model of
Riley County, but haven't pursued the project.
I am curious about why you have these available -
Thanks for contacting us,

We sincerely apologize for not having returned your survey
on the need for that type of model. I only just received this
letter last week and presented it to the monthly meeting of the
Westphalia Historical Society last evening. They were unanimous
in saying they would be pleased to accept it. We operate on very
little money and depend on the generosity of strangers! (Makes a
nice line -- actually we scrounge a lot).
Personally I imagine you have long since embarked on your tour
of Missouri. I hope you were fortunate enough to have visited
here when it was cooler. We are in the middle of a horrendous
heat wave at the present time. However, if the offer still
holds an you haven't already come this way you may email me
your plans and we will make arrangements for someone to meet
you. We are a very small group and operate only with volunteers
so the museum is generally only open by appointment. And again
I am sorry I didn't receive your offer until last week (if it
was indeed mailed when writen -- June l5 -- this response is
indeed over-due. Marilyn Plassmeyer, HC 65, Box 93, Westphalia,
